Most of the residential density along RIA NE has been focused near the Metro stop but now there is a proposed 42- unit apartment building for 2027 RIA NE. This apartment building proposal would add the needed residential density to the section of RIA NE that has been welcoming unique restaurants, coffee shop, and retail. This could help further restaurants and businesses to eye the Avenue. Recently, the new Woodridge Library opened, adding a spark to the corridor.
Salem Development recently filed an application with the Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) to build a mixed-use building on the 10,780 square-foot site at 2027 Rhode Island Avenue NE (map), two blocks from Langdon Park.
