RIA Development is DC’s “Largest” Redevelopment

Thanks to MidCity’s new website, plans for DC’s largest privately owned redevelopment project offers a glimpse into what they are planning.

According to their press release yesterday, its 20-acre mixed-use developed is “designed to be the future centerpiece of the Rhode Island Avenue community”. Initial demolition of the Brentwood Village shopping center is scheduled for late 2016 and groundbreaking on the first phase of this “inclusive, community-driven neighborhood is set for late 2017”.

The development will include residences (1,760 units), new town center, connecting streets, local shops and retailers (181,000 sqft of space), and plenty of green spaces. The first phase in late 2017 will be for the 200-unit affordable housing building for seniors.
