How to get around in Woodridge and Langdon? Car? Walk? Metrobus? Well, add Capital Bikeshare to that list!
As of today, Capital Bikeshare has installed a new 15-station bikeshare station at the corner of 18th Street and Rhode Island Ave NE. This, along with the installation of bike racks along RIA NE is a huge step forward for our community!!
Perhaps bike lanes next?
YESSSSSS!!

MIA BIRK, PLAY FAIR: BIKESHARE OWES BACKPAY & BENEFITS
TO: MIA BIRK, PRINCIPAL, ALTA BICYCLE SHARE; PRESIDENT, ALTA PLANNING & DESIGN
Dear Mia,
We are the mechanics, drivers, technicians, dispatchers, and office workers who helped build Capital Bikeshare and set the standard for bikesharing programs nationwide. We’re writing to ask you to do the right thing: comply with the Service Contract Act and pay us all the wages and health & welfare benefits that you committed to pay in Alta’s contract with the Washington DC Department of Transportation (DDOT).
Fair labor practices are very important – and I was not aware of the dispute cited above. But I’ve got to say that I’m pretty happy about a local bike share station. I think this is a great improvement for RI Ave!
There are bike lanes on 18th St south of RIA. And I’ve never once seen them used.
Great development. These are very close to my house and will be great for quick trips to 12th St or Bloomingdale, and once they put in Bikeshare at RIA metro I could see using them a lot more.
