RIA Street Car?

DDOT has apparently released their plans for a DC Streetcar program, and there is a line that will run along Rhode Island Ave NE. It seems that there have already been concept plans laid out in public meetings within the city, as noted by GGW’s blog. Below is a map of the lines, including a line that will go to CUA. They are already laying the lines along the H Street Corridor and expect to have them completed by 2012.

What are your thoughts on this new streetcar line?

New Soul Food Restaurant on RI Ave

Today, Sat. Oct. 3, I noticed the Soul Food Restaurant door at 2006 RI Ave., NE opened. I walked in and there were 4 people talking about where to put the wash basin and other apparatus for the restaurant. I spoke with the proprietor. His name is Ted Newkirk. He says he lives on Irving Street in Brookland. He’s thinking of renaming the Soul Food Restaurant “The Woodridge Cafe.” Ted seemed very open and polite about talking with people about what to offer in the restaurant. The eating and preparation space is very small, so it might just be a take-out place with a few tables. He says the restaurant should be complete in a couple of months. I would suggest that anyone who reads this blog stop by and talk with Ted about the restaurant.
